The Favorites

The Favorites are an indie pop band from Houston, Texas. They were previously known as Burst.
==Background==
The band began when cousins Jeremy Botter and Bryan Ford decided to start a new band in 2001. The pair began writing songs together, and eventually added Joshua Pearman, Bryan's longtime friend Keith Morgan and bassist Jon Stanka to the lineup. The band gained a quick following in Houston, signing a management/booking deal with Solar Flare Records in late 2001.
The group released its debut EP Something Magical and Good in early 2002, and quickly sold out of the initial pressing.
In early 2005, the group reconvened, and since the name Burst had been taken by a Swedish metal act, they rechristened themselves as The Favorites. They went into acclaimed Houston studio Tierra Studios in the summer of 2005 and recorded a new EP, Much Ado About Nothing.
The band has become known for alternative marketing techniques, and to that end, they released a demo version of Much Ado About Nothing on March 21, 2006 as a free download using Podserve. Over 15,000 people downloaded the album for free, and MySpace listeners catapulted the band into the top of the unsigned artists charts on MySpace.com, quickly making them one of the top unsigned acts on the social-networking site.
At the end of 2006, the band is gearing up to being playing live shows for the first time in five years, and a new version of Much Ado About Nothing will be available in early 2007 from various online digital music stores, although it is speculated that it will have a new name.
The band released "Bright Nights, Bright Lights" in May 2008. The album placed high on many year-end lists, including #15 on Absolute Powerpop's top 125 albums of 2008. The Houston Press named The Favorites one of the top five bands in the city for 2009.
On December 22, 2009, the band will release "The Favorites Christmas", an EP consisting of original Christmas songs.
The band will begin work on their second full-length album in March 2010.
